REALTORS® Are More Than Just Selling Homes!

NAR Volunteer Days

Release Date: June 23, 2022 at 8:10 AM

Thirty LVR members and the Community Outreach Committee got together on June 10 to show that REALTORS® are more than just selling homes. The Community Outreach Committee worked hard to coordinate the event with ‘Holy Smoke - Misfit Missionaries' to access the underground city, which houses nearly 2,000 homeless people below West Flamingo Road. It was a hot day during the Las Vegas summer with a temperature of 110°F, but our volunteers were happy to lend a hand and their time to make a difference in our community. A total of 2,400 bottles (sixty cases) of water and numerous snacks were passed down into the wash by a human chain comprised of volunteers. Shortly after, the volunteers distributed the items throughout the pitch-black tunnels.

Members of the Community Outreach Committee and Board of Directors were present at the event and strongly believe in the committee's mission to give back. Joshua Campa, a Director of the LVR Board, believes that: “REALTORS® are the foundation of our community and therefore it is imperative to give back to the community.“ Another volunteer and longtime Community Outreach Committee member, Dallas Locklear, provided his truck and is almost always in attendance at events. Volunteering is “close and dear to my heart because I had a rough upbringing. It is the least I can do for my community”.

The turnout and generosity of our membership was heartwarming. Once again, our LVR members and the Community Outreach Committee showed that their dedication goes far beyond helping people find their dream homes; they strive to continuously improve the quality of life in their community.
