Five Questions with Tonya Wagle
CREW Las Vegas representative on CALV Board of Directors
Release Date: February 21, 2024 at 10:27 AMTonya Wagle is representing CREW Las Vegas on the CALV Board of Directors for 2024. She’s the vice president of business development for First Savings Bank in Southern Nevada. She has also been an active member of local organizations for commercial real estate professionals, including CREW Las Vegas, where she serves as 2024 president.
To get to know her better, we asked her five fast questions:
How long have you been involved with CALV? And how long have you been involved in CREW?
- This is my first official year with CALV, but I have attended events since 2019. I have also been the CREW alternate representative for two years. I have been a member of CREW since 2017, and this is my fourth year on the board.
What prompted you to join CALV and get more involved?
- I joined as the CREW representative to keep up the multiple organizational collaboration.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
- My favorite part of my job is to see the positive economic impact to our community through financing construction projects, donating to local charities, and volunteering in various activities.
What’s the biggest issue facing the commercial real estate industry today?
- The biggest issue facing the CRE industry is liquidity. With the rapid interest rate hikes over the past couple of years and increasing cost of supplies, coupled with the marketable lease rate, the affordability and cash flow to make projects cash flow has become difficult for many business owners and investors.
What’s one thing most people would be surprised to know about you?
- It’s hard to pinpoint something surprising as I am pretty open to those that meet me. One thing may be that I was a Muay Thai instructor for five years for a mixed martial arts gym and even taught in a self-defense seminar that raises funds for a community college scholarship. I even fought in a match to raise funds for Susan G. Komen.
