Five Questions With Wes Drown

CALV Treasurer for 2023

Release Date: March 21, 2023 at 3:30 PM

Wes Drown, CCIM, of RE/MAX Commercial in Henderson, is serving as CALV treasurer in 2023. He was previously a member of CALV’s Board of Directors and has been involved with CALV for more than 15 years. If you didn’t know it already, you could safely say that he’s a gem of a guy.

To help his fellow CALV members get to know him better, we asked him five fast questions:

1. How long have you been involved with CALV?

  • Since about 2007.

2. What prompted you to join CALV and get more involved?

  • We have some significant issues in our local commercial brokerage community, which will take many years of concerted effort and collaboration to solve and work through. I think the best place for me to start to help is the Commercial Alliance Las Vegas.

3. What’s your favorite part of your job?

  • I specialize in suburban office properties sales and leasing. I enjoy buttoning up a complex lease or sale, with lots of parties involved. It’s also super satisfying working on generational wealth transfers, Self-Directed IRA projects, and multi-partner ownership deals with non-aligned objectives between the parties.

4. What’s the biggest issue facing the commercial real estate industry today?

  • I’ll leave this question alone on a national scale, but in Las Vegas, we don’t have enough new construction of office space happening, other than a few really cool and well-known projects around the 215 curve. Small businesses need more one- and two-story office buildings with direct entry, and we just don’t see it being built at a pace to keep up with demand.

5. What’s one thing most people would be surprised to know about you?

  • I think a lot of people would be surprised to know that I am gemologist and gem cutter. I’ve been involved in the gem industry since 1985.
